I'm sure you've heard all about the great new features and improvements in Photoshop CS6, but one that I've recently been playing around with is the Oil Painting filter. It does a really good job over all. To get a realistic painting look you might want to various settings and merge the pictures together. Some subjects would have larger strokes than others, but for a quick job, it works quite well and quickly.
